Kingwood (Dalbergia cearensis) is native to Brazil and is the strongest and densest of the rosewoods. The tree itself is relatively small and only grows to heights of about 60 feet with a trunk diameter of less then two feet. Kingwood got its name because it was the preferred wood of King Louis XIV for his furniture.
Kingwood is an exceptionally striking, beautiful wood and it is used for many decorative items. With its dark purplish to reddish/light brown tone with dark brown to black streaks it is very recognizable and distinct. It makes for an incredibly natural looking and yet stunning ring while retaining a warm and unique wood feel.
