Olive is an evergreen tree and can be found in northern Africa, Asia and southern Europe - especially in Italy. It is a short tree and grows up to 50 ft in height with the trunk typically gnarled and twisted. Olive trees can live for more than 1500 years. The Olive tree is valued not only for its attractive wood, but also for what it's most famous for, its olive fruit.
Olivewood is valued by woodworkers because of its hardiness, beauty, grain pattern, and the pleasant fragrance that it gives off while being worked. Color alternates between a white/golden color to dark brown streaks. As it ages, it gets darker and richer in color. All of these qualities add to the value of this hardwood and makes for a beautiful ring.
