Red Cedar (Juniperus virginiana) is a species of Juniper native to North America. It is considered a slow growing and smaller tree that rarely reaches a height of 20 meters (65 feet) and is an evergreen.
Red Cedar wood is light weight and very durable with great rot resistance. It is an aromatic wood with a fragrant scent that most people instantly recognize. It is a fine grained wood that varies in color from cream to dark pink to brownish red with some darker areas thrown in. With its fine texture and slight variations in color it makes for a very warm and subtle ring.
